Glacier National Park
Introduction
Glacier National Park or The Crown of the Continent was founded on May 11, 1910. It is located in Montanas Rocky Mountains. The park is around a 1500 square mile area and stretches all the way to the border of Canada.
What It Has To Offer
Glacier National park has beautiful lakes surrounded by mountains and meadows. Glaciers helped from these valleys which is why the valley is more U-shaped.
The park has a good variety of activities to do. If you want to hike this is the place for you. It offers over 700 miles of hiking and backpacking trials.
Glacier National Park is also great for camping. They have 13 campgrounds that they provide, which not every National Park does, and over 1,000 campsites within them. You can get a ranger to lead you on tours of the park or other activities while you camp.
Going-to-the-Sun road is a unique experience to drive through the park and see the amazing views the park has to offer.
Glaciers
In 1850 there were about 80 glacier, but the number has lowered to 26 or less because some may be too small to consider glaciers now. unfortunately Glacier National Park is not a good place to view active glacier because most of them are hidden away.
It is said that all the glaciers may be melted or very small by 2030, but it is not confirmed. This is bad because the glaciers help a lot.
The Glaciers in the park provide water for a couple of things. It gives water by melting to irrigation for farming, for the lakes, and for streams and rivers.
Rating
I think Glacier National Park is one of the most beautiful parks there is. The big lakes with the flowers blooming in the meadows and mountains in the background look almost fake because of how amazing it is.
