Sequoia National Park

Sequoia National Park is located in California in the lower half of the Sierra Nevada mountains. It was founded on September 25, 1890. It protects around 400,000 acres and is close to kings canyon which is another national park.

What it Has to Offer

Sequoia National Park is a beautiful area surrounded by some of the oldest trees on earth. The most popular thing to do in the park is probably hike through the sequoia trees.

Sequoia offers a great experience with moro rock which gives you a great view of the area below. It is easily accessible because it has a stairway and handle bars for some areas.

Sequoia is one of many parks that offers actual campsites. It has 14 campgrounds and 2 of them are open all of the seasons. These are great for family trips or even just for a day trip.

Wildlife watching, backpacking, visiting caves, and walking through vast meadows are all other things you can experience at Sequoia.

Tree Talk

The giant sequoia trees that surround the area are famous for their size and age. Sequoias are about 250 to 300 feet tall and up to 100 feet wide.

Gian sequoia trees are able to grow so large because they grow fast and live long. They live about 3,000 years given the right situation. The oldest Sequoia was 3,266 years old.

General Sherman is a focal point when visiting Sequoia National Park. It is living single stem tree that we know of. It is 275 feet tall and over 4 million pounds.

The tree that has fallen down over the road is also a fun thing to drive through. You can see the rings and actually how wide these trees are as you drive through it.
