Kenai Fjords National Park

  Introduction Kenai Fjords National Park is located in south-central Alaska near the town of Seward. The park was founded on December 2, 1980. Kenai is a little under 700,000 acres in area. Things To Do One of the best things to do when visiting Exit Glacier. There are many trials you can walk on to see the active glacier or see the surrounding area. If hiking isn't your thing you can learn about the glacier in the nature center. Trails aren't the only thing that you can get around in Kenai Fjords. Kayaking is a great way to experience the park differently. If you arent that experienced you can hire a guide to help you explore the park. Dry Tortugas National Park

  Introduction Dry Tortugas National Park is located in the the Gulf of Mexico. It was established on January 4, 1935. Dry Tortugas is one of the few national parks that is either partially on an island or entirely on one. On the island is Fort Jefferson which is a 19th century military base that is the largest brick masonry structure in the Americas. What It Has To Offer Dry Tortuga is a great place to go if you love the water. The several small islands surrounding the area offer a great space for snorkeling and swimming. Unfortunately that is bulk of what you can do here, but you won't be complaining once you see the crystal clear water. Dry Tortuga does offer campsites which is always great to hear. You can choose from a normal one tent site to larger group sites. There are fees, but they are reasonable when you remember where you are spending the night.   Introduction Yellowstone national park was the first National Park founded on March 1, 1872. Yellowstone for the most part is located inWyoming, but it is large enough that it spreads to parts of Idaho and Montana. Even though Yellowstone is large it is only the 8th largest National Park. What It Has To Offer The thermal basins in Yellowstone are one of the main attractions at the park. There are more than 10,000 thermal features located in Yellowstone. Grand Prismatic Spring (shown above), Norris Geyser Basin, Mammoth Host Springs , Fountain Paint Pot , and West Thumb Geyser Basin are some of the most popular thermal features. Glacier National Park

  Introduction Glacier National Park or The Crown of the Continent was founded on May 11, 1910. It is located in Montanas Rocky Mountains. The park is around a 1500 square mile area and stretches all the way to the border of Canada. What It Has To Offer Glacier National park has beautiful lakes surrounded by mountains and meadows. Glaciers helped from these valleys which is why the valley is more U-shaped. The park has a good variety of activities to do. If you want to hike this is the place for you. It offers over 700 miles of hiking and backpacking trials. Glacier National Park is also great for camping. They have 13 campgrounds that they provide, which not every National Park does, and over 1,000 campsites within them. You can get a ranger to lead you on tours of the park or other activities while you camp.  Sequoia National Park is located in California in the lower half of the Sierra Nevada mountains. It was founded on September 25, 1890. It protects around 400,000 acres and is close to kings canyon which is another national park. What it Has to Offer Sequoia National Park is a beautiful area surrounded by some of the oldest trees on earth. The most popular thing to do in the park is probably hike through the sequoia trees.  Sequoia offers a great experience with moro rock which gives you a great view of the area below. It is easily accessible because it has a stairway and handle bars for some areas. Sequoia is one of many parks that offers actual campsites . It has 14 campgrounds and 2 of them are open all of the seasons. These are great for family trips or even just for a day trip.  Wildlife watching, backpacking, visiting caves, and walking through vast meadows are all other things you can experience at Sequoia. Carlsbad Caverns

Introduction Carlsbad Caverns is located in New Mexico, specifically in the Chihuahuan desert. The park established on May 14, 1930. It is 46,766 acres all together and has more than 100 caves . What It Has to Offer    Obviously Carlsbad Caverns has a unique experience that not many other national parks offer. Exploring the caves is the main activity of this National Park, but not the only one.    There are surface trails that you can hike or backpack on. You can watch the bats that live in the caves either fly out of the cave at night or as they come back in at dawn. If animals aren't your thing you can enjoy the beautiful night sky of the Chihuahuan desert with a ranger to help show you the stars. One large downside of Carlsbad is there are no campgrounds provided. The only way you can camp is with a permit in the backcountry which is in the backpacking area.  Zion National Park is located in Southwest Utah, close to the city of Springdale. The park was established on November 19, 1919. What it Has to Offer Zion has great hiking trails for quick day trips in and around the canyon area. If you are a little more experienced the park also offers trails for overnight backpacking and hiking.  A permit is needed , but it is worth the process. Zion National Park is great for climbing as well. The 2000 foot cliffs of the canyons make it a great area for all kinds of climbs.  It has over 300 routes  which range from bouldering to ice climbing in the right time of the year.   The Virgin River lets visitors experience activities like Kayaking or River tubing. In some areas you can even hike through the river, which is a great time.  Horses are a unique and cool way to adventure through the park.
